COOKING WITH VINEGAR TIP SHEET

Tenderizing Tough Meat
White House Vinegar is the perfect tenderizer for tough meat. Simply add an extra tablespoon or two of vinegar to most marinades, making even the toughest of meats so tender that you can cut them with a fork.

Quick and Easy Buttermilk
To make 1 cup of buttermilk, mix 1 tablespoon of White House White Distilled Vinegar plus enough milk to equal 1 cup. Let stand 5 minutes.

Onion Odor Remover
Rub a small amount of White House White Distilled Vinegar on your fingers just before and after slicing onions to prevent the odor from lingering on your fingers.

Keeping Potatoes White
To help keep your potatoes white, add a teaspoon of White House Apple Cider Vinegar or White Distilled to the water in which you boil potatoes and they will stay bright and white. It is also easy to keep peeled potatoes from turning dark by simply covering them with water and adding 2 tablespoons of White House White Distilled Vinegar.

Fluffy Cakes
Moisten and fluff cakes by adding 1 tablespoon of white distilled vinegar to the baking soda called for in the recipe.

Reducing Saltiness
If soup or other foods are too salty, add 1 teaspoon of White House White Distilled Vinegar, 1 teaspoon of sugar and reheat.

Freshen Vegetables
Freshen up slightly wilted vegetables by soaking them in cold water and White House White Distilled Vinegar.

Fluffier Rice
Serve fluffier rice by adding 1 teaspoon of White House White Distilled Vinegar to the boiling water, just before stirring in the rice.

Attractive Crusts
To add sheen to the crust of homemade bread, take it out of the oven when it is almost done baking, brush the top with White House Apple Cider or White Distilled Vinegar, then return it to the oven for the last few minutes.
