Apple Sauce Cookies (Makes: 4 dozen cookies) ½ c. shortening 1 c. sugar (white or brown) 1 egg 1 c. White House Apple Sauce 2 ¼ c. all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking powder ½ tsp. cinnamon ¼ tsp. nutmeg 1/8 tsp. ground cloves ½ tsp. salt 1 c. raisins 1 c. walnuts or pecans, chopped Preheat oven to 350°F. Cream together shortening and sugar. Add egg and White House Apple Sauce. Add dry ingredients and mix until well blended. Stir in raisins and nuts. Drop from teaspoon onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. | |
